Expanding Opportunity Through Mentorship and Structure
The Rise & Reach Project is a research-informed evidenced based nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding opportunity and strengthening communities through mentorship, financial literacy, workforce development, and holistic support services.
Serving through partnerships with schools, colleges, and community organizations and businesses across the Bay Area, Rise & Reach connects individuals with the guidance, structure, and resources necessary to build stable and productive futures.
Our Story
Rise & Reach Project was founded to break cycles that too many families have been forced to accept as normal. Our work is rooted in lived experience, community service, and a deep understanding of what happens when people grow up without consistent guidance, opportunity, or support.
Founder Brent Turner witnessed firsthand how poverty, father absence, under-resourced schools, and system involvement were shaping the futures of talented young people. Through his work in probation, community programs, athletics, and mentorship, he repeatedly saw the same pattern:
Potential without structure leads to instability.
Potential with mentorship leads to transformation.
Rise & Reach was built to interrupt that pattern.
What We Do
Rise & Reach is a research-informed, community-driven nonprofit dedicated to empowering at-promise youth, young adults, veterans, and underserved populations through:
- Mentorship, life guidance
- Basic needs assessments and resource navigation
- Financial literacy and economic education
- Workforce readiness and career development
- Academic and professional support
- Health and wellness guidance
- Mental and physical health referrals
- NIL education for student-athletes
Our programs are culturally responsive and designed to address gaps often present in single-parent and economically challenged households.
Our Approach
We do not simply offer programs. We provide structure, accountability, and long-term guidance. Participants move through a structured process that includes:
- Referral
- Intake and assessment
- Commitment to growth
- Pairing with culturally appropriate mentors and provided services
Services are then tailored to each participant’s needs and goals.
Rise & Reach also partners with educational institutions, athletic programs, and community organizations to improve student retention, graduation rates, and long-term success outcomes.
