Title: Community Mentor
Location: TBD
Reports to: Program Manager
Status: Part-time, Exempt (Year-Round),

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced, compassionate, and enthusiastic Community Youth Mentor to work with our youth program. The Community Youth Mentor will be responsible for providing guidance and support to young people in the community. This includes working with at-promise youth, providing advice and support to help them reach their goals, and developing meaningful relationships with the young people in the program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing mentorship and guidance to children, adolescents, and young adults in the community. The successful candidate will be a role model and provide support by sharing their knowledge and experiences with the youth.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as a role model and mentor to youth in the community
  • Develop relationships with youth in order to motivate them towards positive outcomes
  • Provide guidance on educational, career, relationship, financial, and other life issues
  • Facilitate activities that promote development of life skills
  • Assist with identifying resources needed to achieve success
  • Coordinate with other organizations and programs to provide support services
  • Provide feedback to supervisors on successes, challenges, areas of improvement Maintain records of interactions with participants

Work Environment
This job operates indoors and outdoors in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, and smartphones.

Physical Demands

Travel
Some travel is required for events, such as workshops or conferences.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience working with youth in a mentoring capacity
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Highly developed skills in counseling or coaching, including strong interpersonal communication.
  • Experience working with students and families from historically underserved communities.

  • Professional orientation – appearance, communication, organization, and attitude
 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred
